Dangerous and Unseemly gets a cover!

A few days ago, in my post Art Nouveau as Inspiration (which was also when I launched the new site theme), I promised you all that I’d reveal the front cover to my upcoming novel, Dangerous and Unseemly: A Concordia Wells Mystery.

Here it is, created by super-talented artist Niki Smith:

D&U cover2

Doesn’t it look terrific?  I’m so excited to see my first novel becoming a published reality.  There’s something about a book cover that really makes it feel concrete.

You can see the Art Nouveau elements: the ornate, curved font styles and the stained glass effect of thick, curvy lines and transparent tints.  Even for those not familiar with the Art Nouveau style, the clothing and hat on the woman make clear that we’re looking at a story set in the late-nineteenth century.  The artist conveyed the college setting with the buildings in the background.  And I love that the figure of the woman is part of the frame, just outside the scenery.  It gives her just the right amount of prominence, don’t you think?

Now that we have the art, and the formatting is underway, it won’t be long before the book will launch!  I don’t have an exact date yet, but if you would like me to notify you when I find out, here’s the easiest way: fill in your email address in the “subscribe by email”  rectangle (on the right sidebar).  No one else will ever see your address, and I will never spam you, I promise.

For more info about the behind-the-scenes writing of Dangerous and Unseemly, click here.  For the back cover blurb about the story, click on the Home page.

Thanks, as always, for your support!

Until next time,

Kathy
