Tuesday Terrific: Wisdom on Walls

Welcome to Tuesday Terrific, where we celebrate getting over the Monday bump and picking up speed for the rest of the week.

In the “old days,” when the average joe had epigram-ish words of wisdom to share publicly in written form, options were a bit limited:

These days, however, Twitter, web logs, Tumblr, Pinterest, Google+, and Facebook provide a wealth of opportunities to share one’s wisdom or that of others (with a broader reach than a solitary brick wall can offer).  So pass me a moon pie and a cola, and we’ll get started!

Wisdom on Walls Sampler #1:

(Facebook edition, in no particular order)

On dating:

On the “4th” category:

Another post on attitude (thanks, Rachel!):

A tragic childhood experience, by actor Patrick Stewart:

Listen to your librarian:

And, finally, how we’ll look to our future descendants (thanks, Liz!):

What “wisdom” resonates with you most?  What words have you encountered that make your day terrific or meaningful?  I’d love to hear from you!

Until next time,

Kathy

LOL I saw the optimist/pessimist/realist one a few days ago – love it!

Some of my favorite pithy sayings on Facebook are D.D. Scott’s “bitchy signs” full of Maxine-style wisdom. And who doesn’t love Maxine? She says all those things most of us only think about!

Maxine and my mother always go hand-in-hand in my mind. Those cartoons have helped our entire family not miss her so much.

Okay Kathy, I hate to say it, but I am just going to have to steal your idea. i have such wacky friends who post all sorts of fun things. This is a great idea, and I’m so honored that you picked a couple of my posts. Thanks so much!

I love this! The librarian sign reminded me of my favourite quote: “I like to curl up with good books and bad librarians” by some guy named Richard Needham (my husband was a librarian when I met him).

And the tanning bed one made me laugh out loud! I wonder what they’ll think of eyelash curlers…

Great mix, Kathy! Heart-piercing Bazinga on Patrick Stewart’s violence gauge, and an out-loud snorkle on the tanning beds!

This is just like graffiti! I’m thinking about joining Pinterest to read this kind of stuff. I had no idea.

I love graffiti and always stop to read it. Note: I consider the signs in front of churches a form of graffiti and read them, too.

Of this collection, the one that resonated with me was the one on dating. In all, the graffiti that has stuck with me over the years was one I saw on a bathroom wall. There was a man’s name written in big letters and underneath was written, “is a rapist.”

I’m a little late with my comment on this post, but I just had to tell you how great these quotes are. I especially love Liz’s at the end 🙂
