Three reasons I’d like to get away for a little while:
1. Endless months of political campaigning, complete with robo-calls, debates, and mind-numbing, antagonistic commercials.
2. Super-storm Sandy, and the heartbreak of those in her path. For those of us who were luckier, it’s still gut-wrenching to see the survivors standing amidst the wreckage of their homes, pleading for help.
3. (I know, this one’s pretty frivolous!) Christmas commercials…already. Okay, yes, it’s a break from the political garbage, but I haven’t even packed away the pumpkins and skeletons, people! And there are still Kit-Kats in my pantry. That is just so wrong.
Just when I was thinking we all need a break, this baby popped up in my inbox, from Bed Bath and Beyond:
As Natalie Hartford would say, shut the front door! This machine makes 48 different drinks, using a combination of your liquor of choice and three mixers. There’s even an “I Feel Lucky” button if you can’t decide.
But what really cracked me up was the promo video for the product, featuring two talking “lady” parrots, and the Margaritaville tune playing in the background. I’m not much of a mixed-drink consumer, so I won’t be buying it – and the unit is HUGE – but the video is so silly that it’s funny!

I love that three of those 48 drinks are simply rum, vodka shot, and tequila. Wow! Must be great to have a machine for that! LOL.
I suggest a Dixie cup of whatever you have in the pantry, sitting in a lawn chair on your patio, and listening to Jimmy Buffet songs. Imagine you’ve gotten away…far, far away. Much cheaper, though. 🙂
