Hi! Our family in Virginia was the next stop for Thing 1 and Thing 2, travelers extraordinaire, as they continue their adventures. As you may already know, Leanne Shirtliffe (also known as “Ironic Mom” and designated guardian of Thing 1 and Thing 2), decided to send the blue-haired duo on a world-wide tour, with visits to her blogging buddies along the way. And as everyone knows, bloggers really know how to show Things a great time.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 had a nice rest via the U.S. Postal Service trucks from the Buttram’s home to ours. If you’ve read the account of their adventure with the Buttram family, you know they needed the recuperation period!
But they were rarin’ to come with us on our vacation to Ace Adventure Resort, in the mountains of West Virginia.
Car Ride
Thing 1 and Thing 2 were great little travelers. They always looked so happy. (And they were near the snacks).
They enjoyed playing a little travel Othello along the way. I think Thing 2 won that game.
Settling in
After arriving at our cabin that evening, Thing 1 and Thing 2 relaxed in the hot tub out on the back deck before heading off to bed. That’s our middle son, playing lifeguard.
Water Fun
Although they begged us to take them along whitewater rafting (that’s one of the company’s photos on the wall of our cabin), Thing 1 and Thing 2 settled for a trip to the lake to play on the inflatables. Nothing beats a floating iceberg slide!
Horseback Riding
We were going to put them on the fence for the picture, but the horses looked REALLY interested in them. To keep Thing 1 and Thing 2 from being a morning snack, our youngest rider posed with them instead.
Here they are, on our horse Skipper, who thankfully was more interested in eating the greenery along the trail. A lot of greenery. (As you can see, Thing 1 was kind of a camera hog here).
Games
In between adventures, Thing 1 and Thing 2 liked playing games with us, such as this game of Giant Chess. They really thought Paul should have moved his bishop.
They were so eager to play billiards that they jumped up on the balls, but we moved them before the first break.
Zip-lining
Our final activity of the vacation: the zipline Canopy Tour! Thing 1 and Thing 2 weren’t scared at all. In fact, they wanted to do it again!
And so ends…
Thing 1 and Thing 2’s Excellent West Virginia Adventure
Many thanks to Leanne, for trusting us with the Things’ safe-keeping. We had a blast!
So where will Thing 1 and Thing 2 turn up next? Stay tuned to Leanne’s blog to find out!
What fun times are YOU having this summer? Do the adventures of Thing 1 and Thing 2 inspire you? We’d love to hear about it!
Until next time,
Kathy
Yeah!!! I got you’re blog link today. Woot!
It looks like Thing 1 and Thing 2 had a great time. We haven’t done anything exciting this summer. We’ve just been hanging out and sweating in St. Louis.
Have a good one Kathy.
Wish I could be packed up as easily as Thing 1 and Thing 2 and experience their summer travels. Looks like an awesome time was had by all in West Virginia. The photos are hilarious.
They seem like the perfect guests! They were always ready to go with smiles on their faces, they didn’t take up much room, and they didn’t stink like fish at the end of three days! If they did, you could just pack them up and put them in a closet!!
I love that you took them ziplining!
Holy crow! I want to go on vacation with you guys! You know how to show those things a good time! 😉
I think Thing 2 cheated at Othello.
Just sayin’.
Okay, I know where we’re going for our next family vacation. Looks like that place is a blast!!
Kerry: so sorry you’re sweating in St. Louis, but glad you’re getting the posts now.
Lori: they were very packable, and people did give us funny little smiles when we pulled them out and took pics of them, lol. They made the trip more fun!
Susie: Loved those smiles, and they never got stinky (unlike the rest of us!). Thank goodness for showers.
Angie: I think ziplining was the highlight!
Renee: I suspected that Thing 2 might have cheated, but those Things are so quick, it looks like they aren’t moving at all.
Jessica: your family would absolutely love it, and there’s lots to do for the little ones, too.
Thanks so much, you guys, for stopping by!
LOL – I didn’t know LeeAnne shipped you guys Thing 1 and Thing 2 for an adventure! How marvelous! It looks like you really showed them a good time. 🙂
Kathy,
What a great time the Things had.
Leanne did mention something about them possibly whitewater rafting the same day we did last weekend. Glad they decided to play it safe at the lake instead.
I need to say…despite all the great pictures of the trip, I could NOT get over how neatly packed your towels were in the trunk.
yes, it’s true. I have towel packing envy. I tend to stuff them in the bottom of a bag. I think I need to take packing lessons.
🙂
Great job with the Things it looks like a fabulous time was had by all.
Elena
Sounds like you all had a fabulous time, thanks for the cool pics!
We just got back from a fabulous beach on the coast near Boston (Gloucester, where The Perfect Storm was filmed). So beautiful! I read books, shopped, went into Boston for a Red Sox game, toured the city – everyone was so friendly. Boston is my new favorite place 🙂
Ziplining is awesome! I’m so glad they got to go. So, did Paul’s bishop get taken because he ignored their advice?
I lost the bishop (I was distracted by the blue hair) but won the game … so I guess that’s okay!
Oh, sure, blame the blue hair. 🙂
I’ll let Paul answer that one! Thanks for stopping by!
OMG, it’s like Flat Stanley times two! How fun is it that you showed the Things such a great time. You better check the tape on the box when you ship them to their next destination…it looks like they really want to stay with you. 🙂
They are true adventurers, and were ready for their next stop! But we had a great time. Thanks for paying us a visit!
That place looks like a blast, and the hot tub pic is great. Those things are going to be so spoiled by the time they get back to Leanne that she isn’t going to have a chance with them.
They’ll lose that “star” quality back at home, lol. So glad you visited!
Looks like a great time!
Kathy, I wanted to tell you that you’ve been given the Liebster Blog Award on my blog post today http://bit.ly/kkCknf Congrats! 🙂
Great vaca eh? Oh, I forgot that Thing 1 & 2 are Canadian so they call it “holiday.” Love the zip line photos.
