Mother’s Day is coming! (Why do I see a few shocked faces out there? Better get cracking).
In honor of the occasion, I’ve created a little infographic of Top Ten Things Moms Say (translations included).
What favorite Mom-isms have you heard (or said)? I’d love to hear from you!
By the way, here’s a sweet video (by the Pandora jewelry folks) that you might enjoy:
Happy Mother’s Day to my own wonderful mom. Hugs!

What a great post, Kathy! It always brings you up short, too, to hear the same ‘mom-isms’ coming out of your mouth that you hated when your mother said them.
That is certainly true, Margot – guilty as charged, LOL.
Love this!! Happy Mother’s Day in advance, Kathy!
Thanks, Kass – you too!
Oh my gosh, my mother used some of those along with a few others, like, “wait until your father gets home.” Yeah right. That never worked, Dad and I had “an arrangement,” that mom didn’t know about. That one worked about as well as the counting to 3 works nowadays. If I had a nickel every time I heard a parent say that phrase, followed by, “one – two . . . one – two . . . one-two.”
And I love that video. I saw it somewhere else before and I thought it was very sweet. I like how the kids touch the women’s faces and immediately know, yes or no, that it’s not their mom. It melts my heart.
Thanks for sharing and I hope you have an amazing mother’s day.

Thanks, Patricia! Yeah, some phrases aren’t as effective as others. And my dad’s a softy, so my mom never used that one on me. She had plenty of others, though…
My mother used to say “put some clothes on, I feel cold!”
Happily I don’t have to worry about Mothers Day as my mother doesn’t believe in it – she said she’d rather be treated properly every day than taken for granted all year and treated nicely on one day to make up for it!
I’ve heard that one, but neither my mom nor I ever used it. Your mom sounds like a very down-to-earth lady! I think she’s on to something… 😉
This brought back memories. My mom said many of these too. Happy Mothers Day!
Thanks so much, Phil! Really nice to see you. 🙂
