For the next stop in my book tour, I’m at the fabulous Lair Sapir’s site today, with my purple-prosey short-short story, “A Date with Death.” I was channeling posing as Mickey “Quick Gun” Marlowe at the time I wrote it, so it’s not in my usual “style,” so to speak.
You probably remember Laird: she’s responsible for the terrific re-design of my website. I’ve talked about her here and here. She’s the whole package: creativity AND technical know-how!
It was a hilarious recent story of hers, Mudbugs and Warhammers, that inspired me to write this tale:
A Date with Death
by Mickey “Quick Gun” Marlowe, P.I.
She had legs that could stop a freight train, and not some pokey, lumbering CSX kind of train, either. More like one of those super-sleek, Japanese bullet trains. Those silky gams of hers went all the way up to her – well, where legs usually stop, you know – and then they went right back down to rest in a pair of glistening black patent-leather what’s-your-hurry-bad-boy stiletto heels. I let my eyes travel up and down those legs a few times, just to make sure I knew their destination…
Happy Monday!
